THE MOST PREFERRED POPULAR TYPES OF WOOD, THEIR USE IN FURNITURE PRODUCTION

The most preferred wood types in furniture production are divided into two main categories: natural (solid) woods and processed (engineered) woods.

1. Popular Solid (Natural) Wood Types

Hornbeam (Beech): Extremely hard, flexible and impact resistant.

Usage Area: It is the most preferred wood in load-bearing furniture frames such as armchairs, sofas and chairs.

Walnut: It is one of the luxury woods with its dark tones, distinct rich grain structure and aesthetic appearance.

Usage Area: Dining tables, consoles, quality bedroom sets and classic carved furniture.

Oak: Hard, heavy, and highly resistant to water/moisture.

Area of Use: Kitchen cabinets, tables, chairs, floor coverings and classic style furniture that require heavy use.

Pine: It is a soft, light and economical species. It offers a rustic atmosphere with its natural knotty structure.

Usage Area: Light and portable items, bookcases, garden and camping furniture.

Teak (Teak): Thanks to its natural oil content, it has excellent resistance to water, moisture and weather conditions.

Area of Use: Outdoor/garden furniture and bathroom designs.

2. Types of Engineered Wood

MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard): It is obtained by combining wood fibers at high temperature and pressure. Thanks to its smooth surface, it is extremely suitable for lacquer paint or veneer coating.

Usage Area: Kitchen and bathroom cabinet doors, TV units, modern bedroom furniture.

Chipboard (Particle Board / Chipboard): It is an economical material formed by pressing wood chips.

Area of Use: Wardrobe interior compartments, light shelves and budget-friendly mass-produced furniture.

Plywood: It is produced by cross-gluing thin layers of wood; it does not stretch and has a high bearing capacity.

Area of Use: Drawer bases, backrests, designer chairs and special moisture-resistant products.
